Milo, Re: "AMD CC call."

A couple things I noticed about their roadmap.

- AMD still has K8 set for 2H02.
- AMD still has SOI K7 set for 2H02.
- They brag about the roadmap being intact and competitive.

This says to me that neither K8, nor SOI, will come early.

Another thing is AMD's 1.4GHz Athlon vs 1.7GHz Pentium 4 performance slide, which had to show 15 SysMark 2000 measurements and 6 synthetic tests out of 38 total tests to make their point. Don't they have enough confidence in the Athlon without having to make half their tests either redundant or synthetic? I also liked how their Windows Media Encoder V4 test showed Athlon beating the Pentium 4 by ~30%, but their SysMark 2000 - Windows Media Encoder test showed Pentium 4 beating the Athlon by ~30%. Gotta love their consistent messages. <g>

Another interesting thing is slide 8, which takes a quote from one of Intel's developer's guides. I guess it would be false to say at this point that Intel is only pushing megahertz as equaling performance. As AMD points out, Intel officially calls performance the product of frequency * IPC.
