Ted Turner is one of the most admirable men America has ever produced. And unlike miserly compassionless pig Cheney (1% of income to charity) when he makes a fortune he gives a lot of it to important charitable causes. Ted Turner gave the greatest ever charitable donation of one billion cash to the UN Population Programme last year. Over-population is at the root of almost all global problems. That contribution alone will help the world in noticeable ways. Talk about making a positive difference.

Ted is a true maverick entrepreneur. He created modern cable TV news. CNN is the voice of reason for the world. Without it the world would be a more fractured ignorant place. He also found time to create a champion baseball team, basketball team, film studio, be a sailing champion, etc. etc., and he buys huge tracts of western land and PRESERVES them doesn't exploit them. And he did not start off rich, he's a self-made American Dream man who never sucked off the public dole or turned public trust into windfall profits for himself at the expense of others. Compare a professional pollutor, gouger and liar like Dick Cheney to Ted Turner and there is no comparison. It's called looking forward instead of looking backward for your vision of the world. And taking care of others not just youself.

You can be jealous of Ted, envious of his success, think he's left-wing for marrying Jane (he's not), but he's actually way beyond anything you can comprehend, esp if you use the word "communist" to name-call one of the greatest capitalist success stories of our time. Turner does it all the right way. If more of our billionaires were like him we'd be a better country helping to make a better world.
