Regarding 1x and SK ---------- August 31, 2001 * As of August 23, SK Telecom added an additional 270K 1XRTT subscribers, which compares to 240K net adds in July and 170K net adds in June. We believe SK Telecom is on pace to add roughly 400K 1X subscribers in August, bringing its total 1X sub base to 1 million. * We estimate SK Telecom to add 1.8-2.0 million 1X subscribers in 2001, which based on August's run rate may prove to be conservative. * We believe the strong 1X growth at SKT is due to the introduction of color display handsets (similar to the Japanese experience). Samsung launched its first color handset in July while LG and SK Teletech launched color handsets in August. * 1XRTT data ARPU for July increased 7% month-to-month to W5,068 (USD3.98) from W4,751 (USD3.73). ssb
