I can't tell if your view is right or not. If I understand the Motorola guy's statements correctly, PBCCH is part and parcel of the current GPRS specs. The proposal by Nokia, if I'm reading all this properly [remember, Eric L. thinks I'm analphabetic], appears to suggest that DCCM is an alternative to the more complex and difficult PBCCH required by the specs.

Now, what I don't get from the discussions you linked is any suggestion that Nokia can release millions of BCCH handsets.

Obviously, the people who are dealing with this issue have their own language, which you presumably understand and which I have to decipher. However, nowhere do I see or deduce that Nokia can release BCCH handsets this Holiday Season without running foul of the GPRS specs. Enlighten me, if you will, in intelligible English, as to the reasons why you think Nokia can do this.

Another thing. Is there any reason to believe that PBCCH and DCCM handsets can coexist in the same network?
