I don't recall ever reading anything that the Dalai Lama said that I couldn't understand, but I suspect that when he is talking to other lamas, he does. Why shouldn't he?

Both Al and the Dalai Lama strike me as humble fellows who never pretended to know anything they didn't know, and self-confident enough to be cheerful about it.
