Yes, it was generating a very complex scene involving a man's face. Hyperthreading seems to be fairly complex, so I wouldn't be surprised if we are both misinterpreting exactly how it works. In the case of Maya, given what you just said, I would consider it very good news that Intel has been able to get 30% more performance out of that application.
