Your technical points are well taken. However, the average consumer does not know 1/10th of the technical information you and many others on this thread speak about (including myself). All I was saying is when you have the marketing strength and distribution numbers that Intel has, they can drive a market. Consumer buying habbits are dictated by advertising and exposure. If Intel wants soft dvd in play, the consumers WILL buy, regardless if the technical experts say it is not the best way to use DVD.

Sometimes you have to step back from the technical table and concentrate on distribution channels that drive the market. Consumers will buy Brands they are comfortable with and Intel is definately one of the biggest brand names in the world. You never go against someone that controls that big of the market.

IMO, it is safer to own stock in both soft and chip DVD companies to cover the needs of all consumers.
