TeCom Announces Agreement With EchoStar Communications Corp.
TAMPA, Fla., June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- TeCom Inc. announced today that it has entered into a cooperative marketing agreement with Colorado-based EchoStar Communications Corporation for its DISH Network(SM) satellite television system. The agreement adds direct broadcast capabilities to the list of value-added services which TeCom's InterLane(TM) Interactive Systems will be able to offer.
DISH (Digital Sky Highway) Network, EchoStar Communications Corporation's state-of-the-art DBS system, currently offers consumers more than 150 channels of audio and video programming, fully MPEG-2/DVB compliant hardware, installation, financing and leasing.
The agreement allows TeCom to market the DISH Network to companies in the energy industry, such as gas, water, and electric utilities as well as energy service companies. The offering gives these companies access to recurring revenues from the sale of additional value-added services.
Also announced today, TeCom and EchoStar have agreed to begin work on a cooperative effort that will enable customers to control and access data from TeCom's InterLane(TM) Interactive HomeManager System using the DishTV set top controller. When complete, this effort will broaden the number of user interface devices compatible with the InterLane(TM) HomeManager System.
TeCom introduced InterLane(TM) Interactive Systems in 1996 as an integrated energy management and home automation system. Its residential product is the InterLane(TM) Interactive HomeManager; its commercial offering is called the InterLane(TM) Interactive PowerManager. These products are being marketed to utilities for distribution to customers in their service territories as well as directly to large commercial, light industrial and chain store operators.
TeCom Inc. has also entered into a nation-wide marketing agreement with First Alert(R) Professional Security Systems, the nation's leading provider of electronic home security systems and services.
