Docomo is going to roll-out W-CDMA beginning October 1st....this is damn good news (at least to me).

To me too!
I have been hoping for a DOCOMO failure but I have now done a complete about face and will actually be a DOCOMO cheerleader.
MY about face is that I have come to the conclusion that WCDMA is not going away and that the EU carriers would rather eat shit and die before going CDMA2000. So continued delays or failure only means one thing, NO royalty payments to Q and that's a no brainer bad thing for us.

Since Q has been proven right that they will recieve the same royalty for WCDMA, I say bring it on ASAP. Q and we as sharholders need the new revenue stream to boost the share price. I realy don't care how inferior it is to CDMA2000 anymore, as long as it works good enough for people to buy new hansets that generate royalty payments to Q, it's good enough for me. We make the same money regardless which flavor prople buy.

Another prediction come true is that the WCDMA handsets are rather expensive. $416.00 at current exchange rates. But that will come down as the volume goes up. The silver linning to this is the higher ASPs equal higher royalty payments to us.

DOCOMO's WCDMA is hugely important for two reasons.
1. One it will encourage EU carriers to press forward with their WCDMA network rollouts easing fears that it will be more billions down the rat hole.
2. If FOMA proves as popular as imode it will validate 3G services for the other side which would lift the dark cloud over the whole 3G concept. This means more royalties to Q and higher share prices. SK is validating 3G for our side but we need DOCOMO to validate it on the dark side. We need the dark side to start paying us. DOCOMO and the EU are a big hole in our revenue stream.
