Another prediction come true is that the WCDMA handsets are rather expensive. $416.00 at current exchange rates. But that will come down as the volume goes up. The silver linning to this is the higher ASPs equal higher royalty payments to us I was actually surprised at how low the price of the handsets was....the replacement cost for the handsets in the trial phase was 100,000 Yen. I think it is likely that these handsets are being heavily subsidised. The unsubsidised cost of some brand new 1x handsets in Korea is around $400. I would think that the W-CDMA handsets are considerably more expensive. I think that these should be well within the budgets of many early adopters in Japan.... Slacker
