As a follow-up to my previous post:

I actually received a reply from the online editor of Good Morning Silicaon Valley (San Jose Mercury News). By the time I sent this note out in protest, it was greatly abbreviated from my original note to the NYT so I'll include it as well.

Hi Dirk:
Well, it was news to me and moved on the wires last night. But I've been
on vacation for a couple of weeks so it's possible that someone else
broke the story while I was away, and the New York Times News Service
just got around to picking it up (and we repeated/compounded the error).
It's an inexact art, this journalism gig. Thanks for the tip.
