Not thinking about Nazis anymore. I'm pretty much finished with German bonds, and I think I understand pretty well the interaction between German bonds and the beginning of the Great Depression in Germany in 1928, and why the US and Germany were hit harder by the Great Depression than most other countries.

Now I am working on bimetallism and consumer credit - not that they are related, but I switch back and forth. I've already commented a bit on home mortgages during the Great Depression on this thread, and bimetallism on another thread. I'm gearing up for a trek through the Great Depression of the 1890's, but haven't finished gathering up provisions and equipment needed for the trek. Life on the Gold Standard was a lot more peculiar than gold bugs would have you believe. It's sort of like reading something written in a foreign language - I need to keep stopping for translation.

The events recently between Taiwan and China have put thoughts of war on the back burner, too, although the Middle East remains on my mind.

But don't despair. I will probably continue to make connections that you don't get. Who knows, maybe they aren't there? Not every new idea is a good one. I do keep having new ideas, though, and some people don't mind considering them, which is nice.
