No, Illmarinen, the disaster is a financial one, and relates to Nokia's claim, which now appears unfounded, that it would deliver lots and lots of GPRS handsets this Fall.

It appears that Nokia can't deliver compliant sets so it is trying to fudge the standard in order to sell whatever it can.

If Nokia can't deliver compliant sets, it looks like there will be more GPRS delays and more UMTS delays.

Simply put, Nokia appears to be trying to lengthen the time line while selling non-compliant sets in order to convince investors that it hasn't completely screwed up the works.

If Nokia cannot deliver a GPRS phone timely, why should anyone have any confidence in its UMTS efforts?

It's getting worse for Nokia. Watching a powerhouse unravel is not a pretty sight. Nokia needs to radically change what it does.
