I suspected that. However, I thought that ETSI had the force of law in Europe, so it is still a bit confusing. I can't imagine any serious regulatory body allowing handsets to be sold which are known in advance to absolutely, positively require future recall.

The prospect of seeing Euro carriers do this and Nokia going along with the scheme is, well, eye-opening.

And if the operators don't go for such a scheme, which is entirely possible, Nokia would still be in a pickle.

Not good for anyone, either way.

Bad stuff.
