The details of last mile distribution with HFC or ADSL with or without DAM will alter nothing in the load on the backbone networks.>

Interesting point, Andreas. I need to read the report (I just caught some details). What do you think their motive is? Why put out such a poorly rationalized study? Do you think they are somehow in bed with companies that would benefit from this approach?

Thanks for your reconnaisance, Andreas. I hope to find time some week to read their report.

Aside from this "study" as a justification for switched/metered ADSL DSLAMs, what do you think of this approach otherwise? How will ADSL bandwidth be profitable? Who will pay? Will the early telco models of (affordable) universal service apply to bandwidth, now with dereg?

Netspeed is aggressive that the metered approach is the way to go, and is offering a compelling solution.

Thanks for the heads-up on this study.

Steve
