Steve -

Yes, I took the appellation Techno-man as a compliment, which I guess proves that I am a true nerd.

As to your question about whether the addition of built-in SCSI support to some Micron computers is good for external Zips, I would have to say, uh .., yeah, I guess.

I like the fact that the press release mentions the "popular Zip and Jaz drives." And users of SCSI-equipped computers can benefit from buying external SCSI Zip drives, which are much, much faster than the parallel models. (Not to mention WAY faster than StuporDisk drives, which aren't available in SCSI because it wouldn't help anyway.)

Also, adding a Jaz drive will be made much simpler for the buyers of these computers. I still think Iomega should release an EIDE Jaz, though.

I have an external SCSI Zip myself. Portability is reduced, since the host computer has to have a SCSI port, but I do love the speed. And mostly I hook it up to Macs when I transport it, so it's just fine for me.
