"P4 was actually developed over a period of several years, and never once was it cancelled." Ok, but it is my understanding that the thread of development that led to the P4 was cancelled, or at least delayed. But I don't have any contacts in Intel so I can't say this with any authority. And yes, I realize it was developed over several years, doing a processor, especially one as different as the P4, takes some time. The only ones I have ever seen that believed a processor could be designed in a few weeks or months are some Intel investors who post on the AMD board on "Raging Bull"...
