Remember those claims made by Bush in his State of the Union Message. He said we could afford huge increases in defense spending (an extra $18 Billion) increases in education spending, a prescription drug benefit, a $1.6 Trillion Tax Cut without touching Social Security and MediCare funds. Those claims were wild and extravagant.
