Well it looks like the mr. gary dems show is going to continue.
Condit 'Fix-it' Witness Could Haunt Dems Anew

Just as a California prosecutor announced that he had no basis for
charging embattled Congressman Gary Condit with possible crimes
related to his Chandra Levy cover-up, another of the congressman's
former girlfriends has emerged with an account that -- if true --
could doom any chances that the scandal will fade soon.

Susie Borges Rossi, who claims she had an affair with Condit
between 1988 and 1991, tells the National Enquirer this week that
he had a "fix it" team on his staff that was prepared to dispose if
a dead body -- should the need arise.

The plan, says Rossi, was readied just in case Condit expired
during one of his secret trysts. But adds the California red head,
"If he knows how to get rid of his own body, clearly he knows how
to get rid of Chandra's body."

"He gave me a set of instructions to follow," Rossi said, which
included a secret number where she could reach the congressman's
"paid operative" -- a woman -- in case of just such an emergency.

"Don't phone anyone from the hotel room," Rossi said Condit told
her. "Leave me where I lay, call a cab and go to a pay phone far
away. Then call the woman at the private phone number. She will
know what to do with my body before the police or press find out
about me."

According to Rossi, the same female staffer had instruction on
"which documents in his office to destroy."

"I have no doubt that he made Chandra disappear," Rossi told the
tabloid.

Investigators have yet to interview the California Republican
herself, but several of her relatives have been contacted by the
FBI.

If Rossi's story checks out, the investigation is sure to intensify
-- especially as it concerns members of Condit's staff, several of
whom defended him on national TV last week.

One witness who may be able to shed light on Rossi's claims is
Joleen Argentini McKay, who was a staffer in Condit's California
office in the early 1990's and also had an affair with the sexually
rapacious pol.

Though McKay has granted no interviews, she is known to be
cooperating with the FBI.

An FBI source told the supermarket tabloid, "A number of Condit's
aides, associates and former girlfriends can be expected to
testify." The source told the paper investigators now have a list
of 33 women who claim to have been "associated" with Condit over
the years.

The latest sordid twist in the Condit case can only compound the
political headaches for Democratic Party leaders, who were already
trying to ease the scandal-scarred congressman out of the picture.

Last week California Democrats redrew his district making it more
liberal -- a plan that will give another Democrat a chance to
defeat Condit in the 2002 primary election, unless he drops out
first.

And in the wake of Rossi's Enquirer account, House Minority Leader
Dick Gephardt is scrambling to explain why he defended Condit so
staunchly two weeks ago.

On Aug. 19 Gephardt told NBC News that Condit deserved the benefit
of the doubt in the Chandra scandal because he was "a man of
honor."

But Gephardt sources now say he stood by Condit only because the
California Congressman promised to announce that he wasn't going to
run again during last week's media blitz.

When that didn't happen, Gephardt and other top Democrats felt
betrayed -- and are now weighing possible sanctions against their
California colleague.
