I had the impression, maybe totally wrong, that a cell phone with a clear image of the other party does not now exist and will not exist until something somewhat faster than the 1X is produced, by QCOM, and readily available. When it does exist, despite all the FUD, it will conquer the world, IMHO. But I'm content to wait until it arrives which may be in 2005-2006, which isn't "very soon" as you report. I hope I am wrong.
