Nice catch!

I don't think it has been noted, but Microsoft's move to XP is a big help to AMD.

Currently, the "consumer" version of windows (ME) is much less robust and secure than the "business" version (Win2K) - and Intel has been successfully intimidating OEMs into refusing to install a robust and secure OS on AMD PCs.

Starting next month, there are no longer two versions of Windows for desktops, only single processor XP and dual processor supporting XP-Pro.

This means that, starting next month, the OS version is no longer a barrier to bringing "small business PCs' in as corporate desktops - that critical barrier is finally coming down.
