I believe you are close with that figure (if not right on). Huge numbers of people were let go in july and August. But I believe it will not show in the numbers right now. Because I think that people who got laid off from corporations received at least 2 - 3 (may be 4 - 5 in some cases) months of severance deals, at least most of them. Those guys do not get included in the numbers until their severance pay runs out. Then they go to the unemployment office, apply, and get counted. So, the actuals in July and August will get posted in later in the year. But there were also big numbers laid off in April and May. I predict the official number next week will be 7%.
