How ironic Bill, you need to do some more research.
Instead, the battle for the business application server platform it being fought among WebLogic (BEAS), WebSphere (IBM), iPlanet (SUNW), Oracle and a few others (including MSFT's .Net initiative).
The only one of those solutions which isn't paying Sun a license fee for J2EE is, (you guessed it) MSFT.
And WIND is going to be using Java more and more, they have to, the differentiating factor in embedded systems now is not how deterministic they are, or how small is the kernel, but 'what can they do for me today, tomorrow, and next year'. WIND has licensed INSG's Jeode JVM, and put a member on the board. All of them are working closely with SUNW, to put Java into everything that contains a microprocessor.
Now what were you saying about platforms?
