This morning, my daughter came down stairs and nearly interrupted my big surprise. I quickly ask her to go back to her room. She had a very puzzled look on her face. I could see the question coming, "why do I have to go to my room?" I headed the question off, by simply saying to her, "Emily, I just want you to go back to your room for a now, I will be up in a couple minutes to talk to you. Please just obey." I felt sorta bad, knowing that she did not understand why she had to go to her room. But the surprise was nearly ready, and I knew she would be thrilled once she understood. It would only be a matter of minutes. A few minutes later, I went upstairs. She was not too tarnished by my sending her to her room. Her younger brother Kevin was there with her and they were being silly. I walked in the room first. It didn't take but a second or two for a big smile to come over her face and she understood why she had been sent back to her room. She noticed the napkin, silverware, and cup of juice, that I had in my hand. Her dad followed behind me, carrying a tray with the rest of her breakfast on it, a cheese omelet, and a bagel. She had the most awesome grin on her face, that we had brought her breakfast in bed. Ever since Emily has been old enough to reach the toaster, she has made breakfast for me on special days. On Mother's Day, on my Birthday, I can pretty well bet, she will bring me breakfast in bed. She does the same for her dad on his special days. I felt is was about time that "turn about was fair play." I think her breakfast in bed today hit the spot!!!
