hueyone: Sure, if one falls across differential tax brackets the whole equation changes too. You are correct.

I suppose for completeness we should also offer up the case of a tax free account.

But I was assuming that the amounts had been held for long enough to qualify as long term gains, and that a further long term might elapse.
