Dear Charles: Since, UNFORTUNATELY, I happen to own CPQ I have given this merger some thought. My initial reaction is the PLAYERS leading the merger are too weak to effectively EXECUTE a merger that is sure to result in much confusion, bickering etc. Both parties to the merger have demonstated an INABILITY to effectively reduce overhead costs. I cant see how doubling the problem can somehow make them more efficient at correcting the business plan. On PAPER it would appear to be a good thing, but as another Texan you know would say, "The Devil is in the Details". I think at least for the next year or two SUNW will very likely benefit from the mass confusion likely to occur. So in summary, I agree with you. JDN
