DCTM focuses on the "traditional" document management with explicit access controls plus work flows thrown in. At this time, this approach is better for managing strict requirements imposed by external agencies (FDA, ISO, ...) There is alot of complexity here, so it is not easy to get a foothold in this industry.

OTEXF focuses on a more generic document management with implicit controls. This may be better for managing information outside of the traditional document management arena. Alot of vendors are trying to get a foothold in this industry. It's also closer to the desktop interface that users see, so I don't think the best solution will win, but the one with the most marketing connections. Maybe one of these players will get a big enough market share (like Oracle) to protect themselves from Microsoft dictating all the terms.
