Is it a recession or a slow down in growth?

Frankly, I'm leaning towards calling it the Internet Depression. I was noticing recently how much time both my wife and I spent utilizing free info stuff available on the Internet. As we boomers get older, we are likely to increase this activity rather than constrain it. Then who will be left to get in their cars and go out and spend money to keep the old economy going? Gen X'ers ?

The Internet it seems is a multi-edged sword. Not only has it led to a bunch of speculative frenzy gambling on some poorly financed and managed companies, it has also upset the economics of a lot of previously viable businesses, forcing them to adopt commodity pricing tactics, while at the same time it has become a major low cost enertainment sinkhole that will drain people's time away from other activities which might otherwise consume their time and some money.

Its a strange and twisted web that we weave.
