Intraday Investments Trading Summary for Tuesday, September 04, 2001
First of all, please accept our apologies for not getting out any daily trading summaries last week. We are in the process of reformatting the daily trading summaries and took last week off to focus on getting the new format finalized. For those trader-members (including 5-day trial members) that wish to view last week’s results, you can simply log in to the Online Trading Center and view trading transcripts from any day last week to review our performance. While in the process of implementing the new format, we wanted to make sure we sent out a trading summary for today to start the month of September off right.
Coming back from the holiday weekend, it was great to see volume start to return to the markets. As we always tell our trader-members, it doesn’t really matter which way the markets go as long as we have volume. In addition to decent volume, the day also presented opportunities for us to make profits on both sides of the markets based on the morning rally and subsequent afternoon selloff. As such, we had a rather profitable day.
Here is a summary of our round-trip intraday trades: THQI short + 2.53 (two round-trips), ATVI short + 1.00, PFE long + 0.38, ODP short (0.18), QQQ short (0.13) (two round-trips), and QQQ long (0.62). We also covered the second third of the TARO swing short for + 2.89 and are still short one third of the original position from $43.15. Overall, we netted nearly six points of profit today.
We took the following new trades overnight as swing trades: ODP short from $14.15 (re-entry after getting stopped out intraday), ERTS short from $1.40 credit (bearish option credit spread; sold Sept. 60 calls and bought Sept. 65 calls), and CEPH short from 60.37.
Finally, for those that need a break from trading but still need to get your adrenalin fix, you might want to view the following article that appeared in our local newspaper in Fort Lauderdale. My favorite part is the quote from Ms. Davis in the last paragraph, “This environment in no way is suited to the chicken.'' Anyway, here is the URL. . . sun-sentinel.com
