Hi Elmatador, <<The reason for HP and Compaq joining it is to squeeze the pee out of their suppliers of motherboards, peripherals and other computer-related stuff in Asia. Watch out, Jay!>>

Not so fast. There is a big huge difference between the PC industry and the auto boys, and that is there is already a huge concentration of bargaining power grabbed by parts suppliers (75-85% of motherboards made by 3-5 outfits, … disk drives, …, fans), and some large assemblers can easily be fashioned into huge assemblers, overwhelming HWP+CPQ+?.

I take your bet for the beer, and state HWP+CPQ will try to turn into a full service company, fail, gurgle, drown, and leaving the ocean scape to Dell+Legend, some Korean/Japanese combination+IBM.

Chugs, Jay
