[PacBell]

<<<The statement added that fiber-coaxial ``no longer represents the technology of choice'' for delivering services to California. What that means isn't exactly clear, even to Pac Bell, it seems. Britton said SBC is looking at emerging but largely untested high-speed technologies such as Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL), which runs high-speed Internet data over regular telephone lines. Pac Bell is also looking at digital broadcast satellite technology as a possible means to deliver video.>>>

Don't worry, PacBell's already testing Amati's equipment. They had demos set up at InterOp, and I believe Supercom, too. And I know they're doing advanced trials in Los Angeles right now with the school system. The guy with whom I spoke at InterOp said distance learning had to have a minimum of 6Mbps. He was adamant.

This is good news, indeed.

Chip another notch in the gunhandle. :)

Cheers!
