Merrill also downgraded Ericsson and cut the U.K's Marconi (MONI: news, chart, profile) and France's Alcatel (ALA: news, chart, profile). The brokerage giant reasoned that a cautious take on these stocks was necessary in light of expected spending cuts from carriers into 2002. Of course you saw it here first.... Mentioned ALA will have their most challenging Q ever....
