XP is creating a gui functionality that emulates what X has done for a decade

Ahh, the typical argument from the "we know what is best for you" unix crowd. XP is miles ahead of Linux, and with the exception of fault-tolerance, it is ahead of all other unix's as well (and XP is very robust). You just don't get it. As unremarkable as MSFT's OS technology may be, the plug-and-play support, driver support, and general ease of use are unequalled in the unix world. Have you tried watching a DVD movie on Linux? Perhaps you will find the jitter a bit excessive.

XP has some really cool features. Will that translate to huge surge in PC sales, probably not. But that does not diminish the significance of XP.
