Wireless Knowledge, Inc., a market leader of strategic mobility solutions for the enterprise, and Sprint (NYSE:FON - news; NYSE:PCS - news), which operates the nation's largest all-digital, all-CDMA nationwide network, today announced an agreement to accelerate enterprise mobility and revolutionize the way critical data services are priced, sold and delivered to enterprise customers.
As part of the agreement, Sprint PCS will offer enterprise customers the ability to mobilize their Microsoft Exchange- and Lotus Domino-based systems with Wireless Knowledge Workstyle(TM) at a significantly reduced cost. The announcement reinforces the companies' commitment and leadership to provide clear, simple and affordable wireless data solutions for enterprise customers as part of the Sprint PCS Clear Wireless Workplace.
Sprint PCS will also work towards integrating critical data services for various platforms into its existing network and to ultimately include them as feature charges on the customer's monthly invoice. The agreement extends the longstanding relationship between Sprint PCS and Wireless Knowledge. The two companies initially aligned for the Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business launch in September 2000.
In March 2001 Sprint PCS began offering Wireless Knowledge Application Starter Kits, a complete mobility package including all the necessary components for mobile access to corporate e-mail, calendar and contacts. The popular all-inclusive kits offer enterprises an affordable, low-risk opportunity to trial corporate e-mail applications and wireless connectivity solutions. To date, Sprint PCS has sold a significant number of kits to large enterprise customers and is engaged with several more companies currently in various stages of deploying Wireless Knowledge solutions for corporate e-mail on their Sprint PCS phones.
``Our goals to accelerate enterprise mobility and make groupware more pervasive will be realized through our partnership with Sprint PCS,'' said Eric Schultz, chairman and CEO, Wireless Knowledge, Inc. ``Together with Sprint PCS, we're making it easier and more cost effective for enterprise customers to mobilize their groupware -- the critical first step for any mobility strategy. In addition, we provide a roadmap for mobilizing other strategic applications that will give our customers an even greater competitive advantage.''
``Sprint PCS is focused on helping enterprises take advantage of mobilizing strategic corporate data today via the largest all-digital, all-CDMA nationwide network in the United States. Through our alliance with Wireless Knowledge, we present a compelling offer to enterprise customers who have spent billions of dollars on IT infrastructure and want to maximize their investments by putting this vital information in the hands of the mobile workforce,'' said Rich Cremona, president, business sales, Sprint PCS.
``Companies that adopt these solutions early will have a powerful jumpstart and be positioned for a smooth transition when we migrate to 3G services nationwide in mid 2002. This initiative is part of the Sprint PCS Clear Wireless Workplace, an entire suite of products and services designed to help enterprise customers wirelessly enable their corporate applications as a means to increase productivity, reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction.''
``Enterprise customers who have begun to mobilize their strategic corporate data are already seeing significant results and are gaining a competitive edge,'' said Paul E. Jacobs, group president of QUALCOMM Wireless and Internet Group. ``Wireless Knowledge and Sprint PCS are well positioned to mobilize the enterprise today while unleashing the possibilities and value of next-generation CDMA wireless Internet services.''
The Wireless Knowledge Workstyle solution for mobilizing Microsoft Exchange- and Lotus Domino-based systems is available today through Sprint PCS enterprise sales representatives under the new reduced pricing structure. As part of the agreement, Wireless Knowledge, Sprint PCS and QUALCOMM will engage in co-marketing activities to help accelerate the adoption of enterprise mobility solutions.
