The problem with Nextel is they borrowed and spent $9 billion to build an all digital, always on network which will connect their existing 8 million domestic customers in the top 200 U.S. markets at 56K by the end of this year, allowing them to generate $7 billion revenue in 2001, and nobody cares. How's that for a run on sentence?

All that matters now is debt, uncertainty related to 3G upgrades, a telecom sector in the dumper, and a bleak macro economic environment. Until these issuers are cleared, I don't expect much appreciation in the stock price, however I think we're at or near the opposite pendulum where these "nobody's" valued Nextel at $90 billion dollars just 18 months ago.

Interesting times.
