gao, Yes, we have had 100 generations or more to tame them, with cities etc. Rome was a city over 2000 years ago, plenty of time to make people learn to live in cities. part of this optimization is memetic or social, we just learn how to cope. Some is genetic and we generally become more tolerant and make better neighbours to each other instead of feeling threatened by neighbours. Both the memetic changes and genetic changes occure side by side, with the memetic being far faster. Still it takes a few generation for a meme to change, yet it will vanish if you grab the kids and raise them away from their society.
