Re <<Mani, no, it is not ok to discriminate based on religion. And I repeated many times that in Israel there is no official discrimination based on religion.>>
See I think we might be getting some where. If Zionism has been the basis for the creation of Israel, then how can you say there is no discrimination based on religion. That just makes no logical sense.
Re <<God forbid, another tragedy like WW2 befalls the Jews>>
I certainly hope that we won't need Israel, or any country created and based on racist principals, to protect us from such atrocities. I like to think that the world will act swiftly as they did in Serbs and Milosevic.
Re <<Israel is a Jewish state just like Italy is an Italian state or Spain - Spanish.>>
Neither Italy or Spain is trying to recruit more "Italian" from around the world and encouraging immigration by giving them land subsidies and by doing so expanding settlement territories into neighboring ethnicity and driving them out.
Re <<There are some societies, namely some Indian tribes and, I think, Australian aborigines, who do not recognize the ownership of the land, but that is not the way of a modern world.>>
You are missing my point. I definitely believe in land ownership based on free trade. But I do not believe that any religion, race or ethnicity has a "god given" right to any land or has the right to deny access to it based on religion.
Re <<I can understand if you disagree with the notion of a national movement, but then you should condemn every form of nationalism>>
I strongly condemn any national movement based on ethnicity and religion. I Specially condemn a movement that alienates and impoverishes a large portion of population and is the source of violence due to its extremist and none compromising religious views.
