NHC Communications Inc. - France Telecom Purchases Controlpoint(TM) for Evaluation

Nexans champions first ILEC field trial for NHC in Europe

MONTREAL (Quebec), Sept. 6 /CNW/ - NHC Communications Inc. (TSE: NHC), a
leading provider of carrier class test access and deployment solutions for the
copper-based telecommunications and Internet access markets, today announced
that France Telecom (NYSE: FTE, Euronext Paris: FTE), has purchased
ControlPoint(TM) for evaluation. The sale was made possible by NHC's exclusive
partnership with Nexans (Paris: NEX.PA) the world leader in the cable
industry.
NHC's ControlPoint(TM) will be used as part of an integrated remote
terminal cabinet engineered by Nexans. The ControlPoint(TM) unit is a critical
component necessary to facilitate the automation and remote management of
voice and data cross-connections for applications such as POTS, E-1, ISDN and

xDSL. Field trials for the ControlPoint(TM) solution are expected to commence
later this month.
"This sale is a very important step in the development of our
international markets," said Sylvain Abitbol, President and CEO of NHC
Communications. "Our first sale to France Telecom, a major European ILEC,
points to the importance of developing strategic partnerships with industry
leaders worldwide."
Service providers are quickly realizing the cost savings associated with
automated service activation and intelligent wireline management in the
outside plant and central office.
Peter Benisti, NHC's VP of Worldwide Sales said, "Our exclusive
partnership with Nexans is barely three months old, and already the results of
this relationship have exceeded our expectations. With six major ILECs and 18
small-to-medium sized incumbent providers in Europe alone, we see many more
opportunities for NHC internationally."
