Motorola, the world's second-largest mobile phone maker, had said previously that it expected third-quarter sales to be up 5 percent compared with the second quarter.

Shares of Motorola were off $2.35, or 14 percent, at $14.05 on the New York Stock Exchange in late morning trade.

Brian,
So let me get this straight a 5% drop in sales in a quarter that was obviously going to be weaker than anyone expected cause a 14% drop in stock price in a market where a co as respected as TI says it sees the bottom. And this after a substantial drop over the past several days. Will the market tank 14% on every warning. Nasdaq will be to 0 in a month. mike
