“Break of the Dow support”

Intraday Investments Trading Summary for Thursday, September 06, 2001

The most exciting thing that happened today was that the Dow finally broke support from the lows of August 30 and appears poised for another leg down. Assuming this occurs, the Dow will be shortable for the next several days. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq is coming very close to testing the lows of April. We did not get too aggressive trading today, but managed to net approximately half a point of profit.

Here is a summary of our round-trip intraday trades: DIA short + 0.89 (four round-trips), QQQ short + 0.43, EBAY short (0.10), AMD long (0.25), HRB short (0.36), and NVDA short (1.05). We also closed the ERTS swing short Sept. 60 calls at 0.55 and will keep the Sept. 65 long calls indefinitely, since they are nearly worthless. Based on the current price of the long calls, we realized a profit of nearly a point on the short calls.

We are 100% cash overnight.

Trade Well!
