Jon,

What I am getting at with my compatibility question is: suppose you have two different MSOs in adjoining territories who wanted to combine their operations in order to achieve scale economies. Could they easily link their systems together for CATV and/or cable modem purposes? Would it make it any more difficult to achieve such linkages after one or both had already upgraded to HFC? I am wondering because I expect alot of consolidation to take place in this industry since system ownership is like a patchwork quilt and networks have a natural tendency to interconnect for network economies.
