re Modern art, my own opinion is this (and I take a back seat to no one in my love of art): I have no doubt that many of the modern works I have seen in museums over the years will not be treasured by posterity.

There is some good stuff out there, and there is a lot of quasi-fraudulent schlock that simply appeals to some people's immediate and transient sense of ego and snobbery. It will be rightly forgotten and discarded.
