<<I don't share Eric's optimism about the US future. >>
Eric is cloistered in a cave somewhere. Obviously, he must not read any newspapers.
<<Our population has a lot of uneducated, lazy individuals always waiting for a handout, including many immigrants, not all by any means. >>
I work at one of the biggest high tech co's in the world, at least as of 6 pm tonight. The Indians and Chinese permeate this industry. Tea is much more popular than coffee. A few blacks, very very few hispanics, it seems.
<<Without tech growth, the 3-5 year recession you talk about could very well happen.imo.>>
I agree, and this is the crux of the issue. What is the catalyst(s) for tech growth? I see no existing or potential catalysts for tech growth that are worth the major $$ outlay needed.
Here is a perfect example: Some Euro telcoms have bid so high for 3g spectrum, they cannot now stay afloat financially. The Euro govts raked thes guys so bad on 3g spectrum acq cost, that all they can hope to do is stay solvent until somebody buys them out at at least a small premium. They have no $$ left to fund their cash-eating operations.
But, with the Euro economy worse than ours, who over there is going to pay a lot more $$ each month for added discretionary wireless services? Victor |
