Jim,
You've done a tremendous amount of interesting research to support your perceptions about DWSC, and I appreciate it. And I'm also very sorry - it was not my intention to be sarcastic. Personally, I was just trying to lay out a sequence of facts which had been presented earlier by Sam in a fashion that would make the underlying logic more visible. I'm sorry if you perceived my words to be somehow offensive, and I'd appreciate it if you would accept my appology.
Since I am taking a break from some other research, I went through each of the URLs that you presented, and found a couple of interesting facts:
1. Of the eight highways represented by the URLs, they cover a total of 1,475 Km, which at .62 miles to the kilometer, is a total of 915 miles. Even if there were "a few thousand more of these pictures", they would only represent a small fraction of the roads needed to create a "road-based" transportation infrastructure.
2. Since the "China Map showing roads" is entirely in Chinese, I'd really appreciate it if Sam would take a look at it and tell us what exactly it shows.
3. The URL that you referenced by asking "Hey is that one of Wu's Taxi's there?" is actually an outline of "Guangzhou Future Plans". I read all of it and learned that in 15 years the planners intend that "All kinds of high-standard modern urban infrastructure system and supporting facilities will be constructed" and that "Communications on the sea, on land and in the air will be connected with international routes and passes". They hope to develop this infrastructure by the early part of the 21st century, and it is not apparent whether it will be "road-based". It is clearly not in place today.
4. I found the map of the city of Guangzou to be very interesting. It shows that this city, which is surrounded on three sides by the Pearl River, contains only three bridges, and numerous streets seem to "dead-end" into the River. Clearly, this is not a map of a "road-based" transportation infrastructure.
Personally, and with all due respect to your efforts, I think that the best person to listen to on this forum is Sam - he knows more about China than the rest of us put together.
