NEW YORK, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- CBS Television announced today that it will offer all 18 of its primetime comedies and dramas in High Definition in the upcoming 2001-2002 television season. This is the third consecutive year CBS has broadcast the majority of its primetime schedule in HD, and the first time it has offered all of its scripted entertainment series in the HD digital format.

Together with selected CBS SUNDAY MOVIES, weekday broadcasts of the leading daytime drama THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, and CBS Sports' unprecedented HD schedule, CBS will provide an average of nearly 24 hours of HD programming per week this fall.

"From CSI to EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND to THE EDUCATION OF MAX BICKFORD, CBS is proud to be the first network to broadcast its full slate of primetime comedies and dramas in High Definition," said Leslie Moonves, President and Chief Executive Officer, CBS. "Add in THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS and college football, and it's all here, on CBS, in HD." .....

Forty-one of CBS's owned and affiliated stations are currently broadcasting in digital, covering approximately 52% of the nation. By the end of the year, CBS expects to be transmitting digital programming across approximately 69 stations, reaching approximately 78% of the U.S.
