Well, yeah, that's what ATT would like to do with their harebrained WLL initiative. They are trying to avoid the interconnect cost they pay to the LEC. Of course, my hope is that they'll end up cutting better deals with the CLECs like UMG in exchange for associating their brand name with MediaOne's service. They've already cut a deal in Atlanta for special access. But you'll always interconnect with somebody unless you wire the world. Once you deliver a call to somebody else, you've got to track it. And if you don't track it for yourself, it's hard to devise competitive pricing plans that don't cost you more than you get back in revenues.
