Wireless Services and FreeRein Unite to Offer Enhanced Mobile Messaging and Content Services to Wireless Carriers Sonera zed and AT&T Wireless to Be First Customers

Sonera zed and AT&T Wireless to Be First Customers

BELLEVUE, Wash., Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Wireless Services Corporation, a full service provider of wireless data delivery solutions, and FreeRein, a mobile software and solutions company for enterprise and wireless carriers, today announced a joint service agreement resulting in the commercial release of a variety of new wireless data applications available to worldwide carrier and enterprise customers.

The new wireless applications will be available in the United States in October through Sonera zed and AT&T Wireless. The same applications will be available to other national and international carriers within the next several months. The applications include:

-- M/Gen(TM) Group: A WAP application that allows cell phone users to

communicate a message (invitation, survey, poll) to a group of other

cell phones or email addresses instantaneously. SMSC gateway services

from Wireless Services Corp. will be used by this application to

format and route messages across any wireless carrier network.

-- FreeRein Wireless Greetings: A wireless greeting card application

that allows subscribers to send greetings -- such as birthday wishes

-- via Wireless Services SMS infrastructure and FreeRein's Platform.

Eventually users will be able to attach ring tones and graphic icons

with the messages. Content for the greetings application will be

provided by American Greetings.

-- FreeRein M/Gen(TM): Wireless Services' Internet messaging gateway

technology will be integrated into the FreeRein Mobile Platform, a

development environment used by businesses to quickly develop and

deploy alerts and messaging technologies into their existing line of

business applications.

The partnership is a marriage of both companies' expertise and offers each an expanded market reach and new sources of revenue. Sonera zed and AT&T Wireless are the first customers to benefit from the new services.

To deliver the carrier grade solution, Wireless Services will deploy its Wireless Application Delivery Platform (WADP) server software -- already at work for other U.S. wireless carriers. WADP will receive content from FreeRein, convert the XML data into SMS protocol and process the message for delivery to any carrier's wireless data subscribers. Wireless Services will also deploy its Internet messaging gateway technology, which connects directly to carriers' networks, to ensure that the intended customer receives the message at the appropriate time while maintaining necessary service level agreements. Wireless Services will provide 24/7 service through its virtual network operations center coupled with secure server installations.

"By joining in this service agreement with FreeRein, we will significantly expand our gateway technology for wireless networks to a whole new set of subscribers while, at the same time, allowing FreeRein to continue to expand the benefits of its mobile platform offerings," said Steve Wood, president and CEO of Wireless Services Corporation. "Together, both companies will continue to fill the growing worldwide demand for messaging information services."

"Wireless Services' proven technology and in-depth understanding of the mobile marketplace, make them an ideal partner for FreeRein as we expand our mobile enterprise and carrier technologies," said Don Davis, president of FreeRein.
