Actually, the network server and the firewall both run FreeBSD and have for several years. Hidden costs? Yeah, so deeply hidden that they have yet to become clear. Although the uptime--measured in months--and the ability to completely ignore Code Red et. al. do tend to force the IT staff to work on other projects to justify its existence.
