Do I waltz?
I am a champeen waltzer.
In college, we had a Great Hall which had been the mansion of the Governor of Maryland early on, but had become part of the college many years ago. It had a beautiful central hall, old wood floors and paneling, sconce lighting, just what you would expect an old ballroom to have. It wasn't huge, though I guess it was pretty big for the 1700s, maybe 30 feet by 70 feet, but I'm just guessing. It was two stories high with a balcony with a wonderful old wooden railing all the way around the second floor. About once a month we would have a waltz party there, put speakers up on the balcony and put on records (no CDs back in my college days!) of Strauss waltzes and just waltz, with an occasional polka tossed in, the night away. I may modestly say that I was one of the top waltzers there, having been waltzing since almost before I could walk (my parents were English folk dancers and we had a huge living room with a gymnasium floor which we would clear out from time to time to hold dances in the house).
So, yes, I love to waltz, and I will venture to say you'll have to go far to find a better waltz partner. |
