How is that "creating a diverse student body" became a goal of higher education and a driver of admissions policy? Didn't we start with the idea that academic merit should be what drove admissions? Shouldn't it still be? Message 16273347 "If the goal in creating a diverse student body is to develop a university community where students are exposed to persons of different cultures, outlooks, and experiences, a white applicant in some circumstances may make a greater contribution than a nonwhite applicant."
